The purpose of the master's thesis is to create a program that teachers in primary schools with lower educational standards can use when preparing students for national basketball competitions. The objectives of the thesis are to define children with special needs, outline their educational opportunities, introduce basketball, and design a program plan for teaching children basketball in schools with lower educational standards. The writing process utilised Slovenian and international literature as well as our personal experiences, considering we used the descriptive method.
We developed a three-month program for learning basketball skills to ensure successful participation in basketball matches. The program spans twelve weeks, with three sets of exercises per week. The exercises are conducted as part of regular school lessons, with each exercise being allocated 10 minutes. The exercises follow a progressive sequence, starting from simpler tasks and moving to more complex ones. In addition to basic technical and tactical elements, the program includes elementary games and more advanced tactical elements designed to give students an understanding of how an attack should be executed. The program is intended for physical education teachers working with lower educational standard programs who wish to participate in basketball competitions with their teams of students.
We've discovered that there is not much literature written on the topic. A greater amount of similar programs for game preparation ought to be developed, as this would enable physical education teachers to better prepare for sports activities. This could potentially attract more student participation in sports activities.
