Dealing with the subject of Bach's Goldberg Variations arose from my personal, artistic affinities and the desire to publicly present this work. I believe that the written form of the work can contribute to the flow of information about the work, because in the Slovenian-speaking area there are almost no sources through which an interested reader, researcher, pupil or student could get to know the history and form of the composition and its stylistic and compositional characteristics better and more deeply. Therefore, through this work I will try to present historical facts, analysis, observations and performing qualities that I encountered during my research work, which certainly help a lot in a more complete and clear performance of the work, and also introduce the reader and listener to a more complete and deeper level of knowledge and perception of the music itself. Throughout his life and composing, J.S. Bach dedicated his great opus to keyboard instruments, among them harpsichord has a special place, for which this work is intended. Therefore, I will review the literature and the place in it where these Variations are found in Bach's oeuvre.
