Acrobatic gymnastic is a gymnastics discipline regulated by the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG). In this discipline acrobats do not use apparatus, but create various acrobatic elements with the help of others (on a standard gymnastics floor). The categories are men's, women's and mixed pairs, women's groups (of three people) and men's groups (of four people). They can compete in balance, dynamic or combined exercise and each one of these catagories has it's own rules and scoring system. Acrobatic gymnastics is not (yet) an Olympic sport; the biggest competition are the World Championships, which take place every two years. Similar to artistic gymnastics (especially women's floor and beam exercise), the judges in acrobatic gymnastics evaluate difficulty (D-score), execution (E-score) and artistry (A-score) and the sum of these three scores forms the final score. The main characteristic of acrobatic gymnastics is that the acrobats work in a partnership where good co-operation, trust and connection are a must.
In Slovenia, acrobatic gymnastics is not yet a developed sport, so there are no records or written rules about it in Slovenian. For this reason this master's thesis includes a translation of the official FIG Code of Points and Technical Regulations. With this I would like to take the first step towards the development of acrobatic gymnastics in Slovenia.
