In the theoretical part, we defined the concept of domestic violence, covered the forms and types of domestic violence, processed statistical data, covered the legislative framework, sources and forms of assistance available to victims of domestic violence, and ultimately, which was also the purpose of the master's thesis, we investigated the role of the social work center in solving domestic violence. In the empirical part, we were guided by four main research questions, which mainly referred to where the greatest challenges and obstacles that social workers still face in providing assistance to victims of domestic violence are. We were interested in how the Celje Social Work Center establishes and maintains cooperation with other stakeholders, the police, health workers, workers in education and training, non-governmental organizations and the judiciary, and what obstacles exist in cooperation. We were also interested in how social workers at the Celje Social Work Center assess and address the risk of repeated domestic violence and what preventive measures they implement to reduce the risk. For the empirical part and research questions, two interviews were conducted with social workers as key interlocutors. During the research, it was found that the success of resolving violence strongly depends on addressing violence and its treatment. Official statistics are deficient and insufficient, and consequently unreliable. It was found that despite seemingly good legislation and good practices, we encounter challenges that primarily affect victims. Non-governmental organizations were the first in Slovenia to define domestic violence as a social problem and they still carry exceptional importance. There are still and will probably remain challenges, and new ones will also appear, in the context of domestic violence, which we must continue to address decisively.
