The thesis focuses on the development of transport infrastructure through concessions of domestic and foreign investors in Brazil. The master's thesis is based mainly on the importance of building and maintaining a quality transport network in Brazil in South America. Brazil is a very good example of changing the way of investing in transport infrastructure due to the need to improve the state of traffic safety, growth of gross domestic product (GDP), reduction of costs incurred in traffic accidents, and persistence and development in logistics. Financial problems have strongly influenced the need for changes. In the case of Brazil, we can better understand the concessions and their operation from the transport perspective.
This work consists of nine chapters, presented below.
The first and second chapters help you understand why this problem is important. They identify the specifics of the problem and the methods that were essential in researching the topic being discussed. The third chapter presents the theoretical framework of concessions, traffic safety and the connection between concessions on transport infrastructure and traffic safety.
In the fourth, fifth and sixth chapters, I explore and discuss the theory of highway concessions and the impact of concessions on road safety in Brazil. I will try to present as accurately as possible all phases of concessions and their impact on road safety. The fifth chapter presents a descriptive comparative analysis to determine the evaluation of everything discussed in this part.
At the end of the master's thesis, the main findings are given and the answer to the research question, which will reveal whether the method of financing and construction of transport infrastructure has brought positive effects in improving the quality of life and protecting human life in Brazil.
