The thesis presents a comparative analysis of manufacturing technologies for Kaplan guide
vanes in hydropower. The main issue is the selection between forging, casting, and welding,
considering costs, lifespan, and operational risks. The research methodology is based on cost
analysis, lifespan evaluation, and risk identification for each technology. The results show
that forging technology incurs higher initial costs but extends the lifespan and reduces the
risks of failure in the long term. Conversely, casting and welding are more cost-effective but
come with higher risks of operational errors.
