The thesis is related to the specific location of the Srebrniče manor house near Novo mesto. The area in question, opposite the Srebrniče cemetery, is nowadays being used as a construction store, which is expanding uncontrollably without the appropriate permits. The manor house has become a backdrop for dismantling paving stones, the supporting pillars of the former garden forming support for roof tiles. A stone fountain, lost among the piles of building materials, serves as a chain to restrict passage. The area is degraded, spoiling the exquisite architecture of the adjacent cemetery and is in need of comprehensive renovation.
The thesis explores the issues of self-sufficiency and food security, which are becoming key objectives for countries in the face of climate change and global instability. It is precisely because of climate change that it is also important how we produce food. An agricultural incubator is located at the site in question, which in this case forms an extremely important element in the food chain, as it represents a safe environment for trying new forms of sustainable farming. The proposed programme would improve Slovenia’s food self-sufficiency, which is below the European average, and contribute to environmental sustainability by using modern approaches in the agro-industry and multifaceted action (environmental, social, ecological, economic).
