Due to technological advancements and the emergence of digitalization, the way of life and work has changed. Certain organizations have transformed their operations and shifted towards paperless business due to digitalization. The nature of work has changed, leading to prolonged sitting and increased use of computers. As a result, negative health effects have emerged among employees.
Through professional literature, the thesis defined the fields of digitalization, health assurance at work, and the negative health consequences. Employees from a public sector organization participated in the research. A survey method was used to conduct the research on the negative health effects caused by digitalization in the workplace.
Based on the research conducted, it was found that employees experience the most negative health effects in areas such as the back, neck, carpal tunnel syndrome, and eye problems. Respondents occasionally express reluctance to digitalization, mainly due to the excessive use of computers and computer equipment, and the resulting negative health effects.
The survey results are particularly helpful to work organizations, which, based on the research findings, can establish preventive mechanisms and methods to eliminate or at least attempt to prevent the occurrence of negative health effects.
