The Kolpa River, which is the right tributary of the Sava, is 292 km long. It originates in Gorski Kotar (Croatia), flowing in the east and southeast direction, and representing a 113 km long natural border between Slovenia and Croatia. The area of the entire ba-sin is around 10,000 km2, and the average altitude of the basin is 376 m. The river flows through 6 municipalities and it represents the hinterland of 8 municipalities in total. Many pollutants from surrounding households, and industry and agriculture plants, enter its stream, which has a significant impact on its quality.
In my thesis, I analyzed the results of measurements carried out by ARSO [The Sloveni-an Environment Agency] for the selected parameters. In addition to the three measur-ing points on Kolpa, I covered another measuring point on Čabranka, one on Lahinja and one on Krupa. Sampling at these measuring points has been carried out since 2007. We note that the water quality has not changed significantly over time and can only observe a gradual improvement in the condition of the Krupa River, which is polluted with PCBs due to previous loads.
