Makerspaces are a new type of library services that are still quite rare in Slovenia. Due to the novelty of this service, there is a noticeable lack of studies on the topic. This thesis presents an in-depth analysis of makerspaces, their significance for users, and their potential in implementation in university libraries. Currently, makerspaces are only found in public libraries, so we focused on the establishment of a makerspace in the Central Technical Library (CTK) of the University of Ljubljana. In our research, we had three research questions: (1) How was the planning process for the Makerspace project in CTK carried out? (2) Which Makerspace services are most interesting to CTK users? (3) What are the best ways to promote the Makerspace in CTK? To collect data, we used two methods: a structured interview with the head of the Makerspace in CTK and a survey among CTK users. Our findings will be helpful for libraries that wish to establish a makerspace, aiding in the adaptation of this service to their spaces.
