Wood as fuel is very interesting product at present, for it is used even more frequently for burning and consequently for the generation of heat energy. In the market there are many providers and users of wood chips. In the diploma thesis we studied the opportunities of chip wood purchase in the following ways: payment according to supplied quantity, payment according to supplied quantity ATRO tone, and payment according to the produced heat energy MWh. We created SWOT analysis. We discovered that for the big systems the best option is the purchase on quantity and the payment per ATRO tone. For minor systems the payment per ATRO tone works the best at large providers. We prepared the blueprint of the contract for the supply of the wood chips. The survey was implemented with aim to analyze state of the art of the purchase conditions and checking the quality in heating plants in Slovenia. The survey confirmed our finding, the minor systems buying wood chips according to the quantity and with regards to the produced heat energy is mostly used. Larger systems purchase wood chips with regards to the quantity per ATRO tone. Awareness of the importance of monitoring and quality analyses of the wood chips increases.
