Kosovar Albanian immigrants represent one of the fastest growing communities in Kranj, yet their local integration faces persistent challenges. One prominent issue relates specifically to Albanian women, who mostly stay at home and take care of household duties which limits their integration opportunities. They often have poor knowledge of the Slovenian language and are not independent in performing daily tasks outside of their home. To facilitate their integration, Slovenian language learning programs have been identified as a primary tool. For the former to be successful, it is necessary to understand Albanian women’s needs and obstacles in order to influence their active and voluntary participation in such programs. Through a qualitative study, I aimed to investigate the factors that encourage or hinder Albanian immigrant women from attending Slovenian language learning programs.Based on the findings and a social marketing approach, I formulated recommendations for an adapted language learning program that would more effectively integrate Albanian immigrant women, ultimately benefiting them and the community in Kranj.
