Abstract

Abstract:
The paper sets out the theories of play that represent the basis for understanding children’s role playing, presenting various aspects (aesthetic, anthropologic, cultural, special didactic, etc.) which contribute significantly to the promotion of children’s response as readers. The child enters the textual world by assuming the role of the literary character with which he or she identifies within the closed realm of the literary text, which is aesthetic behaviour. The child’s behavioural norm can be seen primarily in the joy and freedom of creation triggered by the literary events involving the main characters. Play is the basic form of a child’s integration into the adult social environment and as such vitally influences every aspect of a child’s social and aesthetic development. The paper is rounded off by two examples of children’s reader response through role play (in reading Sovica Oka by Svetlana Makarovič and Kar je moje, je tudi tvoje by Marjan Tomšič).
