In the thesis we will look into the poetry of dark modernists: Dane Zajc, Gregor Strniša and Veno Taufer. We will describe the lives of the authors, explore modernism and their characteristics. We will compare poetry of the mentioned authors explore their metaphysical basis, focusing especially on the motives of silence, quiet and death.
The mentioned authors are called dark modernists because they often include motives such as death, silence and quiet in their poetry. These motives are understood in a different way by each author. In thesis, we chose poems that have at least one motive: silence, death or quiet. Despite the fact that the authors have similar motives, they are very different.
