Graduation thesis focuses on the girl’s secondary school in Ljubljana. School was founded at the end of the 19th century and operated until the middle of the 20th century. Part of the thesis is comparison of memories of individuals, who were in some way connected to the school; Ivan Hribar, Janko Mlakar, Ilka Vašte, Pavla Hočevar, Nada Matičič. The purpose of school was to provide girls from wealthier families with higher general education and not for occupation. Soon pedagogical course was added, and pupils were able to obtain the profession of a teacher. In that way school opened its doors to girls form middle and lower classes. School had a strong meaning on the lives of individuals who were connected to it, and it changed the outlook public had on value of higher education for girls.
