In the diploma thesis, we analysed a selection of cases of registering a building in the real estate cadastre
from our own practice. The cases are chosen to illustrate the challenges faced by the providers of
surveying services when registering a building in the real estate cadastre under the Real Estate Registry
Act (ZKN), which entered into force in 2022. Before the analysis of the case studies, the legal basis and
the legal changes brought by the new Act are briefly introduced and analysed. We also look at a sample
elaboration of the registration of a building and its parts, which serves as the main guide on how to
produce an elaboration and is provided by the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of
Slovenia. In the analysis of the selected case studies, we present the individual challenges and
peculiarities and propose solutions for them. On the basis of the examination of the legal basis and the
analysis of the case studies, the discussion highlights the novelties and challenges brought by the new
law in relation to cadastral registration of buildings.
