The master thesis explores the meaning and role of catholic secondary school subject Religion and culture on the forming of one’s view of life and meaning in young students. Catholic secondary schools are understood as an environment, where students, with the help and encouragement of adults, form and develop their identity, encounter otherness, and become open for dialogue and working with others. Teacher’s topics, methods and work serve as support and encouragement in emotional and spiritual development of a young person. The contents of the subject address human being as a whole, namely his physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being. These are also highlighted by the psychotherapy of Viktor Frankl – logotheraphy. The content and role of the subject is connected with fundamental principles of logotheraphy, which puts human, his being, life and life’s meaning at the centre. The thesis notes the connections, where Religion and culture can incorporate the ideas of logotheraphy for class work, looking for pedagogical dimensions. The theoretical part, which looks into young people, education, school, the subject Religion and culture and logotheraphy, is in the empirical part reflected through a concrete practice in a catholic secondary school in order to find out whether it is important, that young people encounter these topics.
