The thesis focuses on the analysis of the art terminology translation from Slovenian into English in the most prominent Slovenian visual arts periodicals. It presents a quantitative and qualitative comparison of selected terms in the text corpus with the proposed translations in the reference resource, Jožef Muhovič’s Lexicon of Art Theory, and identification of translation solutions for the cases that do not have the proposed equivalents. Some translations that do not correspond entirely to the original in terms of form and/or meaning are analysed in more detail. An examination of the adjectives of the terms that unambiguously express subjective evaluation confirms the observation that the use of terminology is loosened because of the text genre analysed in the thesis.
