In this thesis the author offers a general overview on what Roman Medicine was like, taking
into account especially more recent studies. The health of soldiers and the treating of their
combat wounds by physicians present in the Roman Army was of vital importance for
allowing Rome to build a great empire, therefore Military Medicine is explained in detail.
Roman Medicine was highly developed in all parts of Roman Empire, as is shown here by
mentioning selected contexts of Roman Medical Practise. For the first time, a classified
review of Roman Medical Tools, is offered in Slovene language. Special attention is given
toward representation of archaeological sites on the territory of present-day Slovenia where
the practise of Roman Medicine existed.
