In the school environment, the school counselling service often encounters diverse and also very specific problems. When working with students with intellectual disabilities besides learning, educational and health issues there are also other problems: violence, different conflicts, social exclusion, poverty, etc. which of them are treated by the profession of social work. The role of the social work profession when working with students of adapted education
programme is extremely important also because of a great contribution at ensuring safe and stimulating learning environment, well-being of students, monitoring and promoting student progress. In their approaches, counselling service often uses social work concepts but this fact
is too rarely emphasized. With my research I wish to present the use, meaning and the effects of use of social work aspects on working with student disorders in mental development.
