Abstract
Halogenirane organske spojine so danes že precej raziskano področje organske kemije, pa vendar nas njihova vsestranska uporaba v vsakdanjem življenju žene, da iz njih ustvarjamo bodisi nove spojine in materiale, bodisi izboljšujemo (okolju prijaznejše) sintezne poti za njihovo pripravo. Organofluorove spojine se na primer uporabljajo v farmacevtskih izdelkih, kot surfaktanti in spojine za zaščito v kmetijstvu; anorganske flurorirane spojine pa najdemo tudi v Li–ion baterijah in gorivnih celicah. Pomemben tip teh spojin predstavljajo perfluoroalkil sulfidi, katerih ključna lastnost je njihova lipofilnost. Fluorov atom lahko zaradi svoje elektronegativnosti in velikosti znatno vpliva na lastnosti organskih molekul in kemijsko reaktivnost, zelo pomembno vlogo pa ima pri biološki aktivnosti. V magistrskem delu sem se osredotočila na pretvorbe substituiranih tiolov z različno halogeniranimi spojinami. Kot reagente sem uporabila fluorirane oziroma perfluorirane alkil halide. Večina reakcij se je že v splošnem izkazala za uspešne, nekatere reakcijske pogoje pa je bilo potrebno optimizirati. Pripravila sem osemnajst fluoriranih sulfidov in trinajst perfluoriranih sulfidov.

Title:FUNCTIONALIZATION OF THIOLS WITH HALOGENATED COMPOUNDS
Abstract:
Halogenated organic compounds are already a well–studied field of organic chemistry, yet their versatile use in everyday life still encourages us to create either new compound and materials or improve (more environmentally friendly) synthetic routes for their preparation. Organofluorine compounds are used, for example, in pharmaceuticals; as surfactants and as preservatives in agriculture; and inorganic fluorinated compounds can be found in Li–ion batteries and fuel cells. Perfluoroalkyl sulfides are an important type of these compounds, the key property of which is their lipophilicity. Due to its electronegativity and size, the fluorine atom can significantly affect the properties of organic molecules, chemical reactivity and it has very important role in biological activity. In this master's thesis I focused on the conversions of substituted thiols with various halogenated compounds. I used fluorinated and perfluorinated alkyl halides as reagents. Most of the reactions proved to be generally successful, but some reaction conditions had to be optimised. I prepared eighteen fluorinated sulfides and thirteen perfluorinated sulfides.
