In the present doctoral dissertation, Strle's theological anthropological thought, which is specifically presented in his three so-called "scripts", in his various professional articles and in his book "The Glory of God – The Living Man" (Gloria Dei – vivnes homo), is examined.
At first, Strle's life is briefly outlined, followed by his extensive theological work. In this context, we are particularly interested in the questions and perspectives of his theological anthropology: the doctrine of creation, a man as the image of God, human being between sin and salvation, the doctrine of grace and the last things (eschatology).
Prof. Strle can be considered the father of Slovenian theological anthropological thought, which is transcendental, Trinitarian, and above all very Christocentric, since it is based on the mediation and merits of Christ, on Christ's grace or mystery, which has its origin and foundation in the mystery of the Incarnation and in the paschal mystery.
His extremely good knowledge of contemporary internationally renowned theologians is also supported by his knowledge of the teachings of all the Councils, with particular emphasis on the Second Vatican Council and the theological anthropology of St. John Paul II. He takes the Church Fathers, especially St. Irenaeus and St. Augustine, as well as the great Church teacher St. Thomas Aquinas, very much as the building blocks of his theological anthropology. The contents of Strle's anthropology have an extraordinary pastoral preaching value, since they contain an important material for preaching, in catechesis and in the new evangelisation, for today and for the future. He is the theologian of the future and the father of a new evangelization for our time, in our place. For these reasons, he may one day be called "doctor universalis" or "the Slovenian Thomas Aquinas", or even "the first Slovenian Doctor of the Church".
