This thesis deals with the theme of purity and impurity in Leviticus. As an introduction to the content of the thesis, the concept of impurity is explained in the form of ritual and moral impurity. After the summary of the chapters, which cover the theme of ritual impurity, follows an explanation of the ritual purity regulations that relate to actual examples. The last part of the thesis deals with the Great Day of Atonement and the rites of sacrifice with the intention to eliminate the disturbances brought about by ritual impurity. In this work we can also observe the development of the sacrificial rites which start with the Old Testament and are completed in the New Testament in the person of Jesus Christ, when he, as the only true high priest, offers himself in perfect obedience to the Father and breaks this continuity.
