Slovenian officers are members of the Slovenian Armed Forces, who may be deployed to international operations and missions (IOM) several times during their career. They are educated and qualified to lead in a military organization and are responsible for the proper functioning of military formations. They are professionals who, in the modern security environment, perform tasks in the roles of warrior, leader and intellectual. In the assignment, I examine their performance in these roles at IOMs in Kosovo (KFOR), Latvia (eFP) and Mali (EUTM). Using the method of content analysis, interviews and comparative methods, I first discover the connection between the existing method of education and training of the officers and their readiness to manage tasks at the IOMs in question. Afterwards, I focus on studying and comparing selected IOMs and extracting the knowledge and skills that officers need to operate there. I ascertain that the preliminary education and training of future officers, the education and training of officers within the Military Schools Centre, preparations for the IOMs, drills and experience are elements that give and build the knowledge and skills of Slovenian officers for their performance at IOMs. The performance of Slovenian officers in the three IOMs differs in various factors, but similarities can also be found. The knowledge and skills for their performance are no longer only of a military nature, but also include elements from others, e.g. humanitarian and linguistic fields. They are becoming convergent, which is necessary given the challenges in the modern international environment.
