The purpose of the diploma thesis is to carry out a comparative price analysis of wastewater discharge and treatment in the Republic of Slovenia with a special focus on the municipality of Kranj. The first part of the thesis presents the legal regulations of the considered area, the directive at the European level and price regulations in the Republic of Slovenia. It also shows a comparative price analysis of wastewater discharge and treatment in the Republic of Slovenia from 2016 to 2019. The first part of the thesis concludes with a price analysis of wastewater discharge and treatment separately for water rate and implementation of such activities in 2021. Data was obtained from the websites of providers of municipal wastewater discharge and treatment in 2021.The comparative analysis revealed that the price of municipal wastewater discharge and treatment was influenced by several factors. During the considered period, the price of municipal wastewater discharge in Slovenia did not change significantly. However, there was a price increase of wastewater treatment. Especially noticeable was the rise of infrastructure maintenance and adequate wastewater purification costs. The second part of the diploma thesis analyses public utility services in the municipality of Kranj and presents a detailed description of wastewater discharge and treatment in said area. The comparative analysis provided a tool for the price formation of wastewater discharge and treatment from 2018 until 2021 and uncovered the reasons for the difference in the price of municipal wastewater discharge and treatment in 2021 compared to the previous accounting period. The results show that the prices of wastewater discharge and treatment in the municipality of Kranj are comparable to the Slovenian average. The prices are increasing mainly due to the costs associated with the rehabilitation of dilapidated infrastructure.
