The evaluation of library collections is crucial for their development. The purpose of this evaluation was to determine to what extent is the Geography collection in the Oton Župančič Library suitable for students studying Geography at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. It was carried out by comparing existing collection to the reference list. After list-checking was done, we came to the final result that the Geography collection contains less than 30 % of study materials from the list. The percentage is quite small, which should indicate a less suitable collection for students. Such a result was partly expected since the collection is not primarily intended for students/researchers. The percentage depends on several factors; changing the factors could potentially change the outcome. We also decided to compare the list with the Geography collection of the Central Humanities Library. Even that collection does not contain all the material from the list, which suggests that even the exemplar library does not contain all the relevant material, and a better assessment of the quality of the collection in Oton Župančič Library can only be determined by a more detailed examination of the content of the material and its use.
