Energy efficiency presents an increasingly important topic, as it is closely tied to the ever more pressing issues of global warming and climate change. The building sector is just one of many areas striving to optimise its energy efficiency. The fact that this particular sector accounts for 40% of final energy use and generates 36% of annual global CO_2 emissions, makes it an area with vast opportunities for improvements regarding energy efficiency. One of many possibilities for the optimisation and improvement of energy efficiency in the aforementioned sector is the use of double skin facade. Consequently, the aim of this diploma thesis was to provide an overview on the energy efficiency of double skin facade. In the thesis we introduce the EU’s directives and the Act on Energy Efficiency (RS, št. 158/20) as well as present techinical aspects of double-skin façades.
