In this thesis, experiments and results of the research of laser surface remelting impact on surface integrity of aluminium alloys 2017 and 7075 are presented. Laser surface remelting is heat treatment of material, where microstructure of material by very local heating of the surface is changed.. This method is much faster than conventional heat treatment methods when only a small part of the surface is treated. Optimal parameters for laser surface remelting were defined. Each sample was prepared for microscopic analysis and microstructure research. Samples were then remelted under optimal parameters. After that, samples for analysis of hardness, microstrucure, surface roughness and corrosion were prepared. All results are shown and validated in graphs, pictures and data tables.
The purpose of the assignment is to define if laser surface remelting is appropriate method for aluminium alloys 2017 and 7075. We also tried to determine impact of laser surface remelting on hardness, microstrucure, surface roughness and corrosion.
