The end result in the form of a print must be convincing as the illusion of reality and it has to be logical. This is why it is necessary to understand basics of theory of art. It is important to know physical properties of the human figure and space and be aware of the effect of various light sources either natural or artificial. Researching light is crucial when dealing with emotionally charged moment which stimulates the viewer. My work was mainly influenced by the exhibition of Rembrandt’s prints which I have seen in Dulwich Picture Gallery in London in 2020. His study of light is a perfect example. In my own study of printmaking I was especially interested in the use of photography in combination with traditional printing techniques. The idea of making picture out of several photographs was first applied in my work entitled “Mom, Dad and a Dog” printed in 2017. Since then I have used my own photo archive to create new work. Themes I choose I select from photographs I took of family, friends and gatherings I have been part of. Most of all I aim to find a lasting moment in whatever situation.
