This work displays different types of large modern cruise ships, which have been constructed with the purpose of carrying multiple passengers, according to a specific timetable. Development of these types of ships is shown, from the first cruise ship to the modern passenger ships, which have adapted their length and structure according to current conditions in the cruising industry. The thesis also shows the impact of cruise ships on the modern shipbuilding industry, influencing the construction process and generally the dimensions of passenger ships, but also impacting the construction process for other vessels. Passenger ships are tipically constructed with very high and resistent bows, for the purpose of reducing the impact of waves and other weather conditions that occur during the navigation on high seas. Furthermore they need to have a strong and resistent hull, that should be able to store large amounts of fuel, food, water and other important goods.
