This bachelor’s thesis deals with an artwork, a painting on canvas by academic painter
Ferdinand Mayer, Female Nude, which belongs to the ALUO collection (inv. nr. ALUO-S-56). In the introduction, we explain the iconographic background of the painting and give information about the author. Further on, we describe the condition of the painting prior to the conservation treatment focusing on surface dirt and the structural issues of the support and the stretcher. In the theoretical part, we describe the issues of cleaning modern oils. The practical part of the thesis includes the description of all conservation treatments and the argumentation of said treatments. Finally, we critically evaluate the treatments that were carried out.
