The Slovene nation and Slovene state are inextricably linked with the Slovene language and descriptions of it. Since the seminar workshop will be based on direct work with material, i.e. uncovering opportunities connected with these concepts on the dictionary website Fran and other language resources and portals, the paper presents initial thoughts and guidelines for further work, as well as presenting different possible search paths and interpretations. The aim of the contribution is to compare selected theoretical definitions of the key concepts of this year's seminar, i.e. language, state and nation, with various dictionary definitions and how they are understood by users of the Slovene language. If the workshop triggers interest in the form of research questions in connection with the website Fran and the highlighted theme, then the aim will have been realised.
