The article focuses on the borrowed word ful, often used in spoken Slovene: its origin, meaning and use in the widest sense. The research is based on the Slovene language corpora Gigafida, Kres and Gos. The analysis of the material, in addition to the use of the word, offers also a great deal of information regarding which types of words it is used with, in which text types it appears and in what types of speaking situations it is most often used. The article also presents the changes the word ful has undergone in the process of its adaptation to the new language environment, in this case first from English into Croatian and later in Slovene.
