his article focuses on three-dimensional two-layer composite beams with slips between the layers. The effect of contact stiffness on shear stresses in composite beam cross-section is studied in detail. Shear stresses are calculated by the application of: (i) a presented mathematical model with analytical solution, (ii) calculation method for layered timber beams with interlayer slips, as proposed by Eurocode 5 [SIST, 2005] and (iii) a suggested modified equation of the abovementioned standard for the calculation of shear stresses in timber composite beam cross-section. The comparison of the distribution and values of shear stresses in composite cross-section shows a good agreement of the results obtained by the presented mathematical model with the results calculated by the proposed modified Eurocode 5 [SIST, 2005] equation.
