The aim of this undergraduate thesis is first of all to present two more or less known Carniola noble families, Auersperg and Valvasor family, their representatives, properties and what could belong to this. By that we will try to stress some important events or persons from both families, followed by comparison between both »family politics«, wherein we will especially try to find the spots where those two politics (in)directly came close to each other.
By discovering family history we will refer to two authors (Boris Golec and Miha Preinfalk), who wrote already a great deal about the discussed subject. So our task will be especially to find crossings of paths of both families, which we are sure to be found, because the land of Carniola was not so big after all. The story of both families will namely take place mostly in today Dolenjska-region (Lower Carniola) or in capital city Ljubljana, only by Auersperg family we will also consider some wider region.
But before we start the subject itself, an invitiation to reading should be given to everyone, who would like to read shorter (but still extensive) version of histories of both families from their beginnings to the middle of 19th century with the most basic informations, I hope with as few mistakes as possible. But if not for the contents, this work should be at least an assistance by searching diverse literature and writings, which talk about different aspects of the discussed subject.
