The declining implementation of forest tending and the spontaneous overgrowing of agricultural land with forests are interrelated processes. Therefore, this study compared two different approaches of thinning in an abandoned agricultural area. In Bohinj, Senožeti, two plots were established. Within the first plot the selective thinning was carried out and within the second the situational thinning. Using the IUFRO classifications, we analyzed forest stand. We performed a time study of forest thinning. The results indicate that situational thinning is 3.6 times faster than selective thinning.
