Communication satellite connections are set up and used with the aim of meeting the enormous communication needs in the future. We want to achieve this by both sending the best quality signal with the lowest bandwidth and power and using the simplest and most suitable hardware. In order to achieve these goals the design of communication satellite systems is nowadays shifting from a geostationary orbit to a low Earth orbit, where the best quality signal is executed with less power, less delays and reduced error probability. In the case of a small satellite constellation system it is preferable to reduce the proposed system complexity, implementation costs, the required transmission power, which is converted into a signal-to-noise ratio, as well as the frequency spectrum, or to reuse the frequencies.
In the diploma thesis the Starlink satellite broadband communication network, developed by the American company SpaceX, is presented. The main purpose of the thesis is to show in detail the technical features of the Starlink network that SpaceX does not usually disclose in populist presentations. Furthermore, the main technical features of this very special segment of broadband communication networks based on the constellation network of small satellite technology are discussed.
