Introduction: Obesity became serious healthcare problem worldwide, in the last years especially among the children. It is strongly connected with unhealthy lifestyle. We can prevent development of obesity by practicing healthy lifestyle in early childhood. Healthy lifestyle is also the best way to treat obesity (to lose weight and to prevent weight regain). It is very important that we educate the children about healthy lifestyle and about healthy weight loss as soon as it is possible and reasonable. This way, we can spare them many discomforts and unpleasant feelings. We can also reduce hazard, that they will become users of unhealthy weight loss methods. Purpose: Our goal, is to disclose the problem of obesity, to show meaning of healthy lifestyle and to warn against hazards of using unhealthy procedures to lose weight. We would like to find out, what kind of lifestyle students are practicing and how strong their knowledge is about healthy lifestyle and healthy weight loss. We want to know if they would like to have more knowledge about those topics and what kind of education they would find interesting. We want to show importance of educational contents on those topics in childhood and find out when they should be used (find out when did students start diets that weren't determined medically, when did they start to smoke etc.) Methods: In first part we disclosed facts about obesity, healthy lifestyle, healthy weight loss and consequences of unhealthy weight loss methods. In second part, there are results of our questionnaire about healthy lifestyle and healthy weight loss. Results: There were 144 students of 1. and 3. year of Faculty of arts and Faculty of health sciences participating in our research. Results indicated, that knowledge about healthy lifestyle, could influence on lifestyle the students have. It turned out that on some fields, students of 3rd year in Health care programme practice healthier behaviours in comparison to 1st year students of the same programme, difference between 3rd year students of Faculty of Arts and 1st year of same faculty aren’t that obvious. Differences on some fields were noticed as well, among students of nursing care programme and students of Faculty of arts. Discussion and conclusion: We found out that kids start to use diets and unhealthy behaviours at a very young age- some of them already start with diets when they are 10 years old (still most of them at the end of primary school) and most of those who have ever smoke, started with that behaviour at age of 15 or 16. Adolescents searched for weight loss tips on mostly irrelevant websites, forums and magazines and a lot of them ended diet with bad results – they were unsuccessful, they endangered their health or they gained even more weight as they have had before they started the diet. This is why it would be so important to equip them with knowledge about healthy weight loss, healthy lifestyle and hazards of unhealthy behaviours (smoking, alcohol abuse …). We realized that students' knowledge on these topics is bad, but it is positive that they are critical about it and they would really like to improve it. We realized that students don't eat enough of fruits and vegetables, they mostly eat white bread, they eat a lot of sweets and in big percentage, they put extra salt on their food .It is positive that they mostly drink enough water, they use healthy fats in their everyday use and quite a lot of them rather prepare some meals at home than eat them in restaurants or at fast food services. They also drink alcohol in moderate quantities and there is 85,6 % of students that don't smoke.
