In this bachelor's thesis waste-to-energy situation in Slovenia was discussed. Mass flows of municipal waste are shown and their energy value is calculated. Next a recycling processes, waste packaging and missing data issues are described. Procedures and technologies of production of fuel derived from waste are shown along with parameters of fuel quality. Limit values of emissions from incineration and co-incineration are compared, which are based on data compiled from legal documents. Possible locations and existing technologies for waste-to-energy in Slovenia are identified. It has been learned, that energy from waste is a non-negligible local source for energy production that is mostly exported abroad in time of writing this thesis. Slovenia does not have own sufficient capacities for waste to energy processing of all types and quantities of generated waste.
