The bachelor's thesis presents the research done on the casino business in relation to protection of personal data since casino gambling has become extremely popular among the young as well as the old. Casino gambling offers enjoyment and entertainment. The research in the bachelor's thesis is based on the example of Kongo hotel & casino which belongs to the string of casinos and gaming lounges under the Admiral company.
The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is further divided into three parts. In the first part, we focus on the business side of gambling, especially personal data and the role of information commissioner, information privacy law and general data protection regulation. In the second part, we define the laws in the field of gambling business, present a brief historical overview of the gambling laws, point out the difference between casinos and gaming lounges as well as state what is the levy amount for concession and what is the taxation. In the third part, we present the business aspect and we define gambling.
In the empirical part, we analyse the chosen organization and define its operation. We present information technology as well as the most important computer programmes that are used, since the information technology presents the key element in gambling business. We have carried out a survey among the employees regarding their knowledge of personal data protection and then performed a result analysis.
In the last part, we have found out whether our hypotheses can be confirmed. We have also delivered our recommendations for a successful business performance of the organization in the future and made a conclusion.
