For good travel planning, it is important to know some basic information about the place, accommodation options, and places worth visiting, etc. After the trip, most people want to keep all the adventures forever, regardless of what the memories are.
Based on the above, the idea was born of creating a travel journal that would combine all the information in one place in an interesting way. It would be possible to write down all the events and details during the trip that would be worth remembering and, at the same time, it would be easier to plan a trip with it.
The diploma's thesis is divided into individual sections, namely the theoretical and experimental part, the results with discussion, and conclusions.
In the theoretical part, the definition of a travel diary is explained. There are basic concepts of graphic design described that a designer needs to know how to use for effective visual communication with a user. Considering that goal was to design a printed product, there are also important elements of graphic prepress introduced. Their properties affect the product's rendering. Special attention is paid to the preparation of the document for printing and the possibilities of binding in the finishing process.
In the experimental part, there was a survey of the Slovenian market conducted. It was examined what travel planners and journals are available. That helped to understand them better. An online survey was conducted to find out how widespread and familiar travel journals are among people and what their preferences regarding their content and design are. Based on the above, a new travel journal was created. This is easy to use for organizing trips and writing down memories that will stay with it forever. The entire process of production and design is described from the initial idea, the selection of the appropriate content, and the style of design to the final product in physical form.
The chapter of results with discussion presents a survey analysis, detailed final design, and the content of the designed travel journal together with its findings and possibilities for further improvement.
