The development of skidder Woody began in the late eighties when the foresters from Slovenj Gradec region began with the development of a skidder GT-70. Special feature of the machine is hydrostatic-mechanical actuator, causing minor slips and consequently greater efficiency of the drive. Vilpo d.o. o. continued further development of the tractors which are now sold underthe name Woody. In the autumn of 2012, Gozdno gospodarstvo Postojna launched in the wood production skidder of a new series Woody 140. The introduction of a new machine induced a lot of questions, including the fuel consumption. In the thesis, the analysis of the fuel consumption of the new machine was done. The results show that the consumption is fairly comparable or even slightly lower compared with its predecessor Woody 110. In addition, the ergonomic suitability of skidders GT-70, Woody 110 and Woody 140 was assessed. The results show that all tractors are ergonomically appropriate and with each new series the adequacy improves.
