The following thesis describes the historical development of timber transport truck. Featured is the development of various systems and facilities for loading roundwood, up to the emergence of the hydraulic loading crane. Presented are modern forestry transport compositions, forestry upgrades, loading devices, trailers and semi-trailers. Presented are the reasons for the proper and optimum selection of transport composition. The main factors for the selection of proper composition are shape and size of the timber assortment, the volume of timber, accessibility of terrain and distance of transport. Via survey we collected data on the current situation of forest trucks. Presented are the main arguments for vehicles purchase, stated are the good and the bad characteristics of vehicles, depending on the specifics of their operating conditions. We presented transporting composition caused by the introduction of new technology % production of wood chips. Its structure is designed for the transport of bulk cargo and quite different from the standard vehicles for the transport of round wood.
