This thesis attempts to present and substantiate different steps in the process of creation of a bilingual French-Slovene dictionary of archaeological terminology. The archaeological literature, available and studied in Slovenia, is written mostly in foreign languages such as German, English and French. Despite that, a vocabulary of archaeological terms, combining Slovene with another language, does not yet exist, though it could substantially facilitate access to scientific literature in foreign languages for Slovenian researchers. With the intention of composing this type of work, we relied on several French and English terminological dictionaries. The first chapter of the thesis introduces the notions of archaeology and terminology, while the second conveys certain lexicological aspects especially concerning the meaning of the terms included in the corpus. The third chapter refers to the process of creation of the dictionary, which is based on the lexicographic theories and existing dictionaries. The fourth chapter presents certain aspects of etymological, semantic and morphological analysis of a limited number of entries in the dictionary. The fifth chapter encompasses the dictionary of archaeological terms, preceded by a list of abbreviations.
