Postopki prevajanja lastnih imen v mladinski literaturi na primeru poljskega in slovenskega prevoda knjige J. K. Rowling »Harry Potter – Kamen modrosti«

Diplomska naloga se ukvarja s problematiko prevajanja lastnih imen v mladinski literaturi, ki je ujeta nekje med otroško književnostjo in literaturo namenjeno odraslim. Delo se osredotoča na knjigo »Harry Potter – Kamen modrosti« J. K. Rowling, znano po inovativnih lastnih imenih, ki v sebi skrivajo dodaten pomen ter svojih prevodih. Primerjava izvirnika s poljskim prevodom Andrzeja Polkowskega »Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny« in slovenskim prevodom Jakoba J. Kende »Harry Potter – Kamen modrosti« razkrije različne postopke prevajanja lastnih imen, podobnosti in razlike med prevodoma ter posebnosti vsakega od izbranih prevodov.

Abstract

The thesis presses the issue of translating proper nouns in young adult fiction, somewhere between children's literature and adult fiction. Its main focus is J. K. Rowling's book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, famed for its use of inventive names that convey additional meaning, and its translations. The comparison of the original to Andrzej Polkowski's Polish translation Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny and Jakob J. Kenda's Slovene translation Harry Potter – Kamen modrosti reveals diverse methods of translating proper nouns, similarities and differences between the two translations, as well as the distinguishing features of each of the chosen translations.
