In my dissertation I present the lives of soldiers and civilians during the Isonzo front in Slovenia, specifically in the area of western Slovenia, where the front was held. With the help of professional literature and resources, among them the important role have diaries and memory records, I describe the food, residence, hygiene, health conditions, clothing, entertainment, fear and distress, survival and education. When presenting the lives of soldiers, I concentrate primarily on the Austro-Hungarian army, and in the case of civilians, the inhabitants who lived in the area of the Isonzo Front or in its immediate vicinity, while I do not deal with refugee issues.
