The master’s degree thesis presents theoretical basis and findings of Slovene and foreign authors on the theme of violence. The theoretical part includes the overview of legislation and intended measures in preventing violence against children in Slovenia with the emphasis on literature, which presents the basis for the work in practice, in kindergarten. I also present the role of the kindergarten teacher, counsellors and kindergarten as institution in perceiving and treating violence in the family. Furthermore, the proceeding of reasonable doubt regarding violence by official duty is described. The theoretical introduction and empirical part of the master’s degree thesis will serve as a note for treating children who are victims of violence.
The empirical part presents the results gained by the help of questionnaires. I gathered information, offered key findings with a quantitative research, in this way outlined the current practice in kindergartens in the municipality of Žalec, and enlightened a part of the problems with which professional workers encounter in their work. In the final part of the research suggestions and guidelines for the work in practice in treating domestic violence for kindergarten teachers, their assistants and counsellors are written.
