Knowing, understanding and using the European technical legislation is essential in the development and design of products, in their production and to assure the quality of products. User instructions are an integral part of every product, therefore all those who want to sell their products, are faced with its writing.
The aim of this work is to find a universal concept of preparing user instructions that could be used for any product, from small to very complex. The structure, content and presentation of user instructions is described in the IEC 82079-1:2012 standard and is chosen as the base for the concept of preparing user instructions.
The introduction describes the problems of the field and the goals of the master's thesis. In the initial chapters, the safety of machines, the CE label and the technical documentation are roughly presented. The fourth chapter presents the IEC 82079-1:2012 standard that describes the importance of user instructions, defines the content to be covered by the instructions and gives guidelines on how to present the instructions. The content of the standard is presented in thematic sections and is supported by practical examples. Chapter five gives guidelines on what we need to be careful about when planning instructions. In chapter six there are brief descriptions of the standards referred to IEC 82079-1:2012, followed by the final chapter with conclusions.
Attached there is a template for user instructions. The template can be used in different companies for all types of products. The main chapters are defined, while the subchapters are added by each writer himself, depending on the characteristics of the product, its complexity and the skills and knowledge of the users to which the product is intended.
