The purpose of this master's thesis was to find out, how is the sensation seeking associated to relationship satisfaction, infidelity, length of romantic partnership and age. We also wanted to check if there are existing gender differences in level of sensation seeking and what kind are they. In the empirical part, we used the infidelity scale, sensation seeking scale - V and Kansas Marital satisfaction scale. 756 participants have completed the whole questionnaire, of whom 565 (75%) were women and 191 (25%) were men. We found that there are statistically important differences in level of sensation seeking between men and women, with men in average having higher need of sensation seeking than women. In our study there was a statistically important negative correlation showed between the sensation seeking and age and also between sensation seeking and length of romantic partnership. We were also interested in whether people with higher need of sensation seeking are more prone to infidelity and less satisfied with the relationship, but based on our analysis we weren’t able to confirm that. As a limitation of our research, we could indicate a low number of participants over the age of 56, which resulted in incomplete picture of the changes in level of sensation seeking with age, additionally number of male participants was considerably lower compared to female.
