The purpose of the master's thesis is to research the process and possibilities of adapting student information system for various mobile platforms. We familiarized ourselves with the current situation on the web and mobile application market, researched the technological solutions for building applications for mobile devices and studied user experience guidelines. In the experimental part we categorized student information system's functionalities and thoroughly looked into the process of adapting web application of a student information system for mobile platforms. We focused on a detailed analysis of student information system named VIS. With the help of the theoretical knowledge we gained, we restructured the navigation and determined necessary functionalities of a potential mobile application. We focused on improving the user experience and taken into account the limitations of the development process. We aimed to introduce the most optimal solution to adapt the web application for mobile devices, which doesn't require too many resources in terms of time, money and number of developers, as well as their skills. At the end we chose an appropriate technical and functional solution along with the design guidelines and constructed a conceptual template.
